Fish Weavings, 2025.

Film and seaweed woven around 4 rocks | Palm sized

Fish Weavings is a project made during my time at the Fish Factory, Creative Center of Stöðvarfjörður where I wove film and seaweed around rocks. I made phytograms on 16mm film, using the rocks and seaweed from the area to expose abstracted impressions onto the emulsion. I used seawater to mix the phytogram solution of washing soda and vitamin c powder.

Fish Weavings explores an alternative way of remembering moments. Picking up and treasuring a small piece of a place in your palm, while simultaneously disrupting it. Then the wrapped seaweed dries in place overtime, casting the memory.
